There are other whores he's known who can tease better than him, stay looking away, be patient, draw in a man (or woman) who wants them. Alexander is impatient, still. He's learned to lean on that, show that he's eager, and that's why he looks quickly to the open door.

The sight of the man doesn't trigger recognition, at first. He's much changed, from when Alexander knew him. But the eyes, the eyes, and the look in them, when they rest upon him...

Alexander draws in a sharp breath.

Burr. Burr is walking away from him. Burr doesn't have the right to walk away from him --

Alexander is on his feet before he's processed that Burr might not even realize it's him, that he might just be responding to the resemblance that Alexander knows is in the lines of his face. He tries to shout something, call him back, but the voice that comes out is a soft and tremulous question.

"Burr?"
